Chateau de Monrecour is located in Périgord Noir region, in the heart of the Dordogne Valley. It offers two heated swimming pools, a large south-facing terrace and a gourmet-style restaurant. The staff at this charming hotel were incredibly welcoming, and the location is stunning! From the moment you arrive, you are immersed in a sense of relaxation and beauty. Our room was situated not in the main building (the castle) but in a lovely annex. It was quiet at night, which is very important to me. The room was spacious and cozy, with tea, coffee, and water available for free. We dined at the restaurant inside the Domaine; the food was good, though in my humble opinion, not exceptional. However, we thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance. The beautiful breakfast room, located inside the castle, offered a great variety of choices. The garden and the view are stunning, with swimming pools located in various spots. Having visited many hotels in Dordogne during my stay, Château de Monrecour was definitely my favorite. I hope to have the chance to go back soon.

Often photos on sites make a place look better than it actually is. Auberge de Castel-Merle is so much better than the photos led me to expect. Truly one of the most lovely accommodation experiences I have ever had. I hope to stay there again.

This hotel is just 170 metres from the Cro-Magnon Shelter and 350 metres from the National prehistoric Museum. Dating from 1964, it offers a heated, outdoor swimming pool and an on-site bar. Staff were proactively helpful, welcoming and accommodating. We were upgraded to a lovely room in the main house since we’re were returning guests, which was spacious, comfortable and attractive. Homemade breads at breakfast were delicious.
