Such a peaceful and lovely little property. The rooms were very small but immaculate. The loft upstairs is such a wonderful place to chill and look out over the city. The breakfasts were amazing and the staff were kind and helpful. Thank you!

The rooms are spacious with tall ceilings and they are very clean! Of all the places we stayed in Chile, the attention to cleanliness here was the best. Breakfast was standard: meat, cheese, bread and eggs, with juice, yogurt, pastry, and basic fruit. We appreciated that the breakfast room was always available for hot drinks and we enjoyed relaxing the in the guest lounge. The hotel took care of our laundry (for an extra fee) which was greatly appreciated!

Helpful owner - allowed to make my own breakfast when I needed to leave early; owner very understanding when I had to cancel one night because of canceled flight; owner connected me with driver for airport and also gave me help finding my way around town.

gorgeous little seaside town. it's a nice respite if you're doing some serious hiking up in torres del paine, and i'd definitely spend a day or two walking around the main street and by the seaside.

It really is only a place to go to other better places in Patagonia. The restaurant scene is not great and there’s really not much to do there. I’d say use it as a place to stay overnight to go somewhere else but if you do don’t expect to find any great options for food or entertainment.

A great (very windy) city at the end of the world.
A great (very windy) city at the end of the world. Close to breathtaking scenery (Tierra del Fuego, Torres del Paine) and historical sites. The city felt secure. The fish market offers amazing good value dishes (no vegan options:(). There are good walks close to the city (a national park 15 minutes by car). Punta Arenas is easy to navigate on foot if the weather permits - the wind can bowl you over!!!

Punta Arenas is a nice town.
Punta Arenas is a nice town. But don't expect too much of it. It has really fantastic, great coffee places. And very good restaurants, actually it is amazing that there are so many nice restaurants and so many great coffee shops in such a small town. Apart from that, it is a small town. Don't get me wrong: it is the *town* to be if you want to be at the Strait of Magellans!

Punta Arenas had more to do than I expected!
Punta Arenas had more to do than I expected! I had heard from others that it was a sleepy residential town, but we enjoyed walking along Playa Colon, walking up to Mirador Cerro de la Cruz, shopping for handmade gifts at the Municipal Artesanal Market, petting the community dogs at the Plaza de Armas, touring Cerveceria Austral (reservations needed in advance), going on one of the penguin and sea lion tours, and eating authentic classic Chilean food at La Marmita restaurant. If we had more time, we would've visited some of the nearby museums to learn more about Magellan's sail through the strait. We loved that Ubers were quick and plentiful but that the town was very walkable just about anywhere.

The center of town is quite a distance from the airport.
The center of town is quite a distance from the airport. Punta Arenas is good for a jumping off point to explore Patagonia. For birders, there is a great e-Bird hot spot just out of town towards the airport.
Ana was such a special host! She provided much more than was expected. She was helpful w local restaurant suggestions, was willing to take me to a lookout of the town, and helpful w everything along the stay.
Ana had a knack for educating about local Patagonia history.
The condo was very clean. It had all the amenities one would need. The views were very nice as well.
I would highly recommend Vilanita to anyone looking for a place to stay in Punta Arenas! You will not be disappointed.
The location of the hotel is perched up on the hill overlooking everything with a beautiful view. The staff is incredible. Valentina was so hospitable in welcoming us and helping us settle in. The staff was incredibly flexible and accommodating, and they were so helpful with even the simplest of requests. The rooms are gorgeous, clean, and cozy. The restaurant on-site is one of the best places we have eaten in all of Chile and Argentina. You can’t go wrong with this stay!
Mauricio, the host, is extremely welcoming and helpful. The hotel is delightful. Everything is made of wood and tastefully decorated. It's warm, comfortable, and cosy.
It's less than a 10 minute drive from the airport, and Mauricio will pick you up or drop you off there any time you need. If you need to go to Punta Arenas, you can easily order an Uber. Central Punta Arenas is only about a 15 minute drive from the hotel.
Highly recommended!
Hotel Ilaia is a family run hotel and the staff we met were all very attentive, helpful and charming. All spoke English well.
The hotel is within walking distance of some great restaurants, and not to far from the Centre of town. It seems to be well known to tour operators who will pick up from this hotel without complication. There is offstreet parking -which was important to us. Our room was very comfortable. WiFi worked well.
The hotel was quite interesting. It's an gorgeous, older building (though it seems to have been remodeled and kept up well). In a nearby restaurant, we saw a painting of the hotel from an earlier time. The staff at the hotel were very helpful in pointing us to a shop that could help us with a phone problem. I wish we had stayed more than one night, as there were other things we would have done in the area (like see condors).
The hotel was lovely, clean and well located, with the restaurants and main street just 2 blocks away. Pedro, the owner, was very hospitable and kind. He was ready to assist with any recommendations & arrangements needed and helped me with my big luggage like a real gentleman. I would recommend this hotel and will book it again once I come back to Punta Arenas.
The hotel is centrally located. You can walk everywhere; to museums, and many more attractions. Specially to many restaurants that serve delicious food (we loved the seafood in Punta Arenas). The lady at the front desk was more that helpful with us. She made our experience at the hotel really memorable.
Our stay was brief but the hospitality of the host was truly outstanding! The host made us feel very welcome and was extremely attentive even though we arrived late due to a 3hr delay on the airport runway. We will definitely be staying here in the future should we return to Punta Arenas!
This place is tucked in a forest and away from the city. Our host picked us up at the airport and we had a lovely conversation about the indigenous people who used to live in Chile. We wished we had booked another day here. Quiet and peaceful.
Lovely bedroom with access to very clean communal kitchen. English speaking hosts, promptly responded to emails, arranged mid night taxi pick up service for us from Punta Arenas airport. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts.
Cozy hotel with small, though tasty breakfast. A friendly staff helped us with the main attractions in Punta Arenas. As we came late at night, and spent just one night there, we haven’t explored the neighborhood.
The host and her family were really friendly and welcoming. The apartment was very clean and fairly modern. Great value for our short stay in Punta Arenas, and a short walk from the city center and bus station.
A quirky hotel full of character. Staff very friendly and helpful, excellent breakfast and evening meal. The view from the room was superb and it was only a short walk into the centre of Punta Arenas
Spacious hostel, big rooms (but not much furniture), kitchen+fridge available, owner helpful and speaking English, not common in Chile. Really good and fast WiFi. Reasonable prices.
Best breakfast from all the hotels I stayed in Puerto Natales / Punta Arenas. A lot of options.
Very luxurious type of place. Bath tub on the bathroom. Good views from the windows.
It was nice staying in one of the historic old "palaces" of Punta Arenas. It was comfortable and in the center of the town, making it easy to walk anywhere easily.
Clean, comfortable hostel facing the Strait of Magellan. Most likely the best one in Punta Arenas. Good WiFi, good breakfast, friendly staff, cozy public area.
