There was a comfortable space for all of us to sleep. This was the first time to go away and stay with my brother and family. So having a big space in winter was important. That said the shaded area outside was a wonderful space to be together too. We loved the warmth of the fire place too. The kitchen was very well equipped and met our needs.

The owner/manager was friendly and welcomed us into the establishment with clear instructions on how to go about navigating the space.
Breakfast was great, there is a wide selection at the dining room and the cooked elements were made fresh and kept warm until we sat down to eat.
The view from the upstairs lounge is lovely, you can see the ocean.
The room and bathroom was clean and neat, as expected.

Melkbosstrand is a lovely, unpretentious old-fashioned seaside town with a long, firm beach along the Atlantic ocean. There are supermarkets, filling stations, restaurants and coffee bars for each taste and budget. Nearby is a championship golf course and sports centre with Padel and tennis courts. The host is unfriendly and the facilities poor. Although the location is fantastic, short stays will be less frustrating. There is bore hole water and when the electricity goes off, either because of load shedding or just because, and this happens all the time, there is no emergency lighting (even if the owner have solar) and no water. I liked the walking paths, shops and restaurants.
I liked the walking paths, shops and restaurants. The people are very friendly and kind. The scenery is also a winner. Only one downside, is the early closing time of the restaurants on the weekends. Avoid going out for a late snack, as most places will be closed. (We had to drive to Table View for Steers)

It was my third visit to Melkbosstrand, and I always love the peace and serenity of it. It will surely not be my last visit. Dinner at Damhuis was superb, and breakfast from Simple Bru Coffee Co was also fantastic. A weekend to remember for sure

The staff will go the extra mile just to accommodate you. also, we had the entire house to ourselves for almost all of our five night stay. So it felt like we got more than just our luxurious bedroom to ourselves.
