The Crown Hotel, hotel in Lynton

Originally a coaching house from the 1760s, The Crown Hotel is located in the heart of Lynton and offers free Wi-Fi in public areas and a bar.

Very nice and comfortable room. I had to get an early start, so especially appreciated the nice woman (owner?), who made me a very generous packed lunch instead of breakfast. She even left me cereal and milk.

St Vincent Guest House, hotel in Lynton

Housed in a historic building, the recently renovated St Vincent Guest House offers accommodation with a garden and free WiFi.

We booked the St Vincent Guest House only two days before visiting as a last-minute break for one night with my wife and our dog. We hadn't looked at other reviews, so we arrived with an open mind. We actually arrived early, but the hosts were very accommodating and made us tea/coffee while we waited a few minutes for the room to be ready. The garden out front is very pretty and dog-friendly, with a gated entrance and secure perimeter. The room was very nice with a four-poster bed. The mattress was very comfy, and the room was clean and welcoming with an en-suite. The hosts gave lots of advice about where to eat that evening and also advice on a walk that we were going to undertake. We ate at the local Crown Inn and returned to the St Vincent Guest House early as we were tired from the walk. We both slept extremely well and woke early. Breakfast was very good with choices of cereal, fruit compote, fresh juice, tea/coffee, etc., and a fully cooked breakfast catering for vegetarian/vegan, etc. They also asked if we wanted a sausage for the dog, which he was very pleased about. The hosts also talked about some of the history of the building, which was fascinating. I'd definitely return and have already recommended the place to friends and family.

Breathtaking views and vibe - so serene... The trip there was an adventure! Great idea to set off earlier in the day from Cardiff than I did lol - was chasing the sun on roads I'd never driven on before, and didn't have time to stop and visit the many interesting little spots along the way. Walking around Lynton was an absolute pleasure - gorgeous shops and eateries to visit, beautiful architecture, and such history! I didn't get to the museum though, but that means I have something new to visit next time I head there. The drive to Alwington and back was beautiful as well - there really are a lot of places nearby that makes Lynton the perfect spot to stay.

Loved the Town.( & its contrast Lynmouth).

Loved the Town.( & its contrast Lynmouth). Very Scenic & small Quirky Bistros ...Italian. Tapas. & many other interesting ones. Pre Book your evening meal! ...we did not & ALL were fully booked. We had to go to the next town for a walk in.! Some nice quality independent shops & galleries. & a small cinema . LYNTON could benefit from small scale music nights in venues & pubs. Difficult terraine if not so mobile ,the hills are very very steep.!...and footpaths slippery when wet. Nice walks . Valley of the Rocks & Coastal paths have exeptional.views .wandering goats & some tranquility.!.... Good for a quiet holiday .Friendly people .Interesting Conversations. Very Challenging in an old car!

From the moment we arrived we were greeted by Rebecca who was warn , cheerful and friendly we were made to feel welcome immediately. The hotel is tastefully decorated with fine furnishings. Our room was superb and with a sea view. Prior to our arrival we had already had a three course lunch so unfortunately, we had no room to dine in the evening. Our breakfast was amazing and upon our check out we were able to speak to Steve. He was pleased with our comments and we ended up chatting about all sorts of things, that’s what we call friendly. We will definitely be going back at some stage and would highly recommend the North Cliff Hotel

Views are wonderful from everywhere! Lots of places to visit close by such as Cliff railway, Valley of rocks, Glenlyn gorge It had been on my list to visit for a while and I truly can’t wait to go back!!

Good location for the many walks near by.

Good location for the many walks near by. Not many places to eat in the evening if you didn't want to drive any where. Lack of toilets for public use. You need to be quite fit to get the best out of Lynton as it is very hilly. People are friendly which was very good. I would recommend the Crown Hotel for food and good service.

    We really enjoyed Lynton.

We really enjoyed Lynton. We walked from our hotel in Rockford and enjoyed a pint and great fish and chips on a quiet, out of season Sunday. I imagine it's a different proposition in the Summer, but we prefer places like this when it's a bit quieter.

The room was well decorated and well furnished, with two lovely chairs in the bay window overlooking the sea. Beds were comfortable, bathroom was lovely and spacious. Breakfast offered a lot of choice and the foot was great. The couple who run the place were also lovely. There is a sister hotel just 100m down the road where you can also order an evening meal, which gave us generous portions. I also love the honesty bar. It felt very homely and more like an apartment as we also had use of the guest lounge as well. Would thoroughly recommend.

old fashioned Inn next to the river with access to some foot paths. The Inn has parking for cars. The bar area has lots of character and real fires. The Inn stock a couple of beers draft but everything else comes from bottles. All the beers are from the Exmoor brewery. The evening meals were nice when available. Our twin room was clean and tidy.

Absolutely stunning views(surely the best in the area!), of the sea and the cliff railway. Characterfully and tastefully decorated, loved the old style window frames. Staff friendly n helpful, with everything you could want for breakfast too. Perfect end to a trip in North Devon, just regret we weren't there for longer. Will be back!

location is superb, easy access to the coast path and an easy drive to Exmoor. Breakfast was great, excellent quality. As a vegetarian who dislikes meat substitute products I often find problems when eating out, but not at Longmead House. The best breakfast I've had when away for years.

The location to the local area was spot on and the flat was a great size with ample space for the two of us to feel right at home. We were not expecting a great deal of life in the area but were pleasantly surprized at the wealth of shops available both in Linton and Lynmouth.

Everything was fine and the room was lovely and quiet. Lynton is a lovely small town and Lynmouth is also excellent - there is some lovely walking nearby - though climbing the hill after the funnicular had stopped for the evening really got the heart pumping!
