Good to visit during ski season. Little to do outside of it.
Good to visit during ski season. Little to do outside of it. Not to mention the access from Bucharest and even Brasov. Awful traffic all thorough the year. Many hours spent is a standstill queue. Other much better alternatives available.

Azuga is a very quiet resort that is currently in a touristic restoration/rebirth period.
At the moment Azuga is not that known and it a lot less busy than Busteni/Predeal/Sinaia.
But this tourist city offers a lot of sports-related attractions, cycling (both XC and downhill), hiking, walking outside, ATVs, Motorcycles, skiing in the winter, and others.
The trails are not as known as the others but they offer stunning views of the neighboring mountains with easy hikes.

It looked like an abandoned city, unfortunately.
It looked like an abandoned city, unfortunately.
You can go to Sorica and take the Gondola that takes you to the mountain plateau. Very beautiful views from there and you can see Bucegi mountains or hike at Baiului Mountains.
We loved the food at Casa Azugeana.

If you like the place for yourselves, than Azuga is the place to be. It was almost nobody on the streets and the place looked deserted. I could find parking spaces wherever I wanted.
It is a good destination if you want peace and quiet. In the summer you will mostly only find the locals there.

Azuga is the maybe the most rewarding winter resort for alpine skiing in Romania at the moment - mostly because of the two ski slopes (both red) that are groomed to perfection and easy to access. There is rarely standing in line at the gondola lift, as opposed to other ski resorts in Prahova Valley. In the summer there are several other outdoor sports to be enjoyed - downhill and mountain biking, hiking etc. Other opportunities for relaxing and spending time are, unfortunately, limited. The small resort is suffering from lack of investment. All the small local industry is gone, jobs for the locals are scarce even in the hospitality industry and young people are forced to move to the bigger cities in Prahova or Brasov.

was very happy to discover this hotel quite far from the DN1 rush, in a very quiet area, right next to a the cabletrain (telegondola). Our room had an amazing mountain view (it seems that all rooms have nice views as they are not obstructed by other buildings). Also, the room was very large and spacious.
I recently stayed at a place that was an absolute delight. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a nice bathroom. The location was perfect, as it was close to the main road. The owner was very nice and hospitable, and even treated me to whisky and barbeque on the first day of my stay. I asked for a fridge in the room, and the owner was kind enough to provide one. Overall, it was a very nice place and offered great value for money. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
It was all about location, towards the edge of town, surrounded by forest, overlooking the ski slopes from a generous balcony... BUT, with a number of great restaurant within walking distance and 15-45 minutes drive from main attraction in the area (e.g. Peles Castle) or the town of Brasov. Everything was clean, comfortable and I could find everything I needed to enjoy a long stay. Communication with the host was excellent and I've also received two extra nights as a bonus, after booking a full week.
The location was perfect. It was snowing every day, making the location like being from a fairytale. The kids were playing in the courtyard and didn't even want to go the slopes because there was a lot of snow everywhere.
Very close to the slopes, just a few minutes away with the car.
Very good food at the restaurant. Watch out, big portions! 😁
Worm and clean rooms, (very) hot water 24/7. Comfy bed.
Oh, and friendly staff, from reception to restaurant and housekeeping.👏
We had a wonderful experience at Skyline Villa! The view was spectacular, the accommodation was comfortable and well maintained, and the owner was very kind and attentive to our needs. A relaxing getaway in the middle of nature. I will definitely be back and will happily recommend her!
I liked the room size, the bed comfort, the cleanliness, the staff politeness.
I liked that it was close to the slope, I liked the special dedicated area for ski equipment, the kids playground, the SPA area.
I was surprised how quiet it was although there were only families with kids.
The breakfast was good and diversified.
The swimming pool and jacuzzi were nice to hang around.
The room was clean and spacious. The bed was very comfortable.
Nice view from our window.
The restaurant food was ok and diversified.
The place is cozy, quiet, warm, clean and well equiped;it even has a few surprises. It is close to ski facilities and has a nice view. The host is really nice and flexible. Will definitely come back!
The host was very kind and helpful. The studio is perfectly equipped and the location is well placed. Close to the Telegondola Sorica and groceries.
The bad was more than confortable.
Clean, new refurbished apartment, well positioned near the park, stores and Azuga ski domain.
Kitchen well equipped, own heating system. Overall great value for the money.
Nice and quiet location, free parking available, close to the ski slope, good service, good cleanliness, restaurant available, 7-8 nice choices for breakfast.
