Standard APA accomodations, but we had a stinky smoking room which was tiny tiny tiny for two people and one tiny bed :/ I think APA does that: they book two people into a "double" then upsell you at the front desk to a bigger room. If you like nature, you must like Kirishima, which is beautiful and peaceful. When you climb up to the volcano, you will be amazed at the magic of nature. The local people can’t communicate with English but very patient and nice.AAnonymous - 10Scored 10
The hills North of Kirishima are full of interesting places...
The hills North of Kirishima are full of interesting places to visit such as hot springs, shrines, waterfalls, farms (good for kids) and beautiful nature walks. It is peaceful, the people are utterly friendly, making it a very pleasant area to stay. With little kids it's good for about 3-4 days, after which it would be recommended to spend time around Kagoshima or further South too, which have again plenty if interesting things to see, do, discover. Make sure that you have your own transportation, otherwise it'll either get expensive or very time consuming to get around. Food is NEVER an issue. Even in the smallest town you'll be able to find excellent Japanese food with a large variety. Cleanliness is indisputable and even if language is a major issue for most Japanese, the friendly smile is always there and pictures do the rest. We are a family of 4, with 6-years old twins and will definitely return to Kagoshima / Kirishima and its surroundings again. We had a great time there and look forward to a next trip!

The luxuriant vegetation all around. The mountain trails both for driving and hiking gets you serenity that could make you forget about the sorrow and chores in the material world.. If you like countryside and nature, Kirishima could suit you. We drove to some remote areas and experience different side of the Japanese living. A bit sad to see all these old towns are lacked of maintenance, lots of houses, shops are shut down perhaps they are lack of tourists to support them.GeorgeAustralia

We had room 7 facing the forest and we really enjoyed our stay. We found the owner to very friendly and we were able to have some good times there chatting with her. This is a simple husband and wife business and is not high end. The onsen is hot, which is great. There’s only about 10 cabins which is nice. It was very peaceful. We used this as a launch pad to other places and onsens in the kirishima area too.

Rooms were large and well sound-proofed. We slept very well here. Located in the beautiful Kirishima mountains. Access is best with a car, but we managed to find a bus which brought us there just fine. We did not try the in-house restaurant, but instead dined at (good) restaurants nearby. There's also a convenience store nearby. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We warmly recommend this hotel.

Traditional tatami room and comfy futon. Bathroom with laundry and dryer, onsen coming straight from the sink for a soothing bath. I will come here again when I am around Kirishima
