Offering Japanese-style rooms with river views and an en suite bath, Takao Kanko Hotel is 600 metres from Jingo-ji Temple. An amazing stay. Very warm welcome, food was amazing, a wonderful ryokan experience. Will recommend and hopefully return.

Along the Kiyotakigawa River, Momojiya Annex offers traditional rooms with a private open-air bath and forest views. It features public baths and free wired internet in public areas. Incredible staff, setting and meal! We will cherish our stay there for a lifetime.

If you're looking for a good ryokan experience I think this one would be a good choice. My group used the shuttle service to get to and out of the ryokan without any issues. At the ryokan itself, the staff was very attentive, friendly and nice and did their best to communicate with us using English. I really cannot overstate how great they were. Our shabu-shabu dinner as well as the breakfast was very good, I think the portions size was also quite great. Rooms were nice, had a great view, but I will say the bath in the japanese room might need some renovation work. Speaking of baths, if you have to ability to book the private bath, I highly recommend to do so. The building itself is rather old but it doesn't mean it isn't charming in a specific.way. Overall we stayed only one night but were fully relaxed and recharged before our next trip.

A 10-minute drive from Kinkaku-ji Temple, Ryokan Yamazaki offers a hot public bath and serves breakfast and traditional dinners for an additional fee. I was traveling together with a friend and she preferred to book a place a bit outside of the city. The place is still very accessible by bus (stop is almost in front of the house), or even the tram if (you don’t mind a 15 minutes walk). The staff was very kind and welcoming and you will easily get along with English, if you don’t speak Japanese. The rooms were tidy and comfortable and would also recommend to take the Japanese breakfast in the house. Cannot judge the dinner since we usually returned late and ate somewhere else. Highly recommend the ryokan!
