A nice and spacious room with a great view from the balcony! Massive breakfast too! Loved my stay here and would recommend to others! The staff were also friendly and accommodating!

As part of the Vila Porto Mare resort, this hotel offers 4 restaurants, 6 bars and 5 swimming pools. Porto Mare features an extensive tropical garden on the Atlantic oceanfront. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A special thanks to our checkin staff, who were very accommodating and made us feel welcome from the first minute. Lots of swimming pools, lovely gardens and a good breakfast buffet. The room was very big, facing the ocean and with a great view. We also really enjoyed the cocktail "happy hours". The property, although somewhat old, was well taken care of. In contrast to other, larger hotels on the island, this one felt very cozy. It was the right size, with the right amount of people. The gardens definately gave a lovely charm to this property.

Set within a leafy garden, this hotel boasts an outdoor pool overlooking Funchal coastal cliffs. Pestana Vila Lido Madeira Ocean Hotel‘s studios are spacious and decorated with soft beige colours. How do you not love this hotel? It has the best location of any place we have stayed. We have been to Madeira four different times since 2017 but this is the first time staying at the Pestana Lido. The rooms are directly on the ocean where you hear the relaxing sound of the waves. The beds are very comfortable with wonderful linens. The Pestana staff is also remarkable. They go out of their way to make you feel special. My husband even had the breakfast staff sing happy birthday to him and gave him a cake to take back to our room! The Valentine’s 6 course meal was outstanding. The pool bar staff was awesome. Thank you for our fantastic 12 night stay! We will be back!

Located in the heart of Funchal’s Lido area, this 4-star hotel is a short walk from the city centre and boasts contemporary interiors and an outdoor pool with a terrace. Perfect location, great breakfast with a lot of choices. Across the street is bus stop, in next building is car parking. Nearby a lot of good restaurants. Amazing value for money.

Located close to Funchal’s city centre, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Meliã Madeira Mare offers free WiFi, an indoor and outdoor pool and a spa. Every thing the location, breakfast the room size and facilities the staff were so friendly but i guess it the nature of people of Portugal they are very friendly and kind . I LOVE this hotel. ROOM & BATHROOM: simple, clean, functional w/desk, chair & ability to hang clothing. AC, small mini fridge, kettle (instant coffee & teas), water bottle, safe, information cards, menus, & small cookies upon arrival. There are a variety of amenity kits, soap, lotion & the shower has both a rain & a handheld shower head w/ shower gel, shampoo, & conditioner. BALCONY: spacious with a BEAUTIFUL sea view. Perfect for evening drinks/AM Coffee. Bed is comfortable & large. LOCATION: Hotel Zone with a 15-minute walk into Old Towne Funchal. Easy access to bus stops. Along the sea walking paths & lots of restaurants, bars, grocery stores around it. PARKING: indoor & outdoor parking. LOBBY: clean, compact, stylish, & playful. ROOFTOP PATIO & BAR: AMAZING! Tons of seating options, heaters & beautiful vast views. EXCELLENT to watch the New Years’ Eve Fireworks from! Would HIGHLY recommend! LOUNGE & RESTAURNT: great for anytime drinks or pre-dinner drinks & next to it is the restaurant, which is open, bright & hosts a solid variety of food for breakfast (both hot & cold) 3 great coffee machines & complimentary sparkling wine for breakfast. There is a seated section outside to eat as well. There is a Falconer with a Hawk/Falcon in the mornings (to chase pigeons away) so COOL. CHRISTMAS DINNER: I have friends that said it was OUTSTANDING. POOL: Looks welcoming & decently sized with lounge chairs. WONDERFUL STAFF: Tatyana, Christine, the GM, 2 bartenders were EXCEPTIONAL. All were friendly, professional, willing to assist & went above & beyond to make the guests welcomed & warm over the holidays. They worked extremely hard during the holidays & took COVID seriously & in stride. HOTEL: I felt safe throughout my stay as a solo female traveller. I will stay here again without question.
