The common room is decorated to the nines with all kinds of interesting things. Breakfast was a continental breakfast, but with plenty of choices and fresh bread. The location is not completely perfect as it is located right next to Highway 1. However, the windows are very well insulated and the hotel even provides earplugs, which I didn't need as at night there was not much traffic. Otherwise it is within easy walking distance of the historic Victorian downtown area, the Steampunk Museum, and even the penguins.

It surpassed all my expectations - beautiful historic hotel, warm inviting decor in the bar and restaurant. Lovely gardens with hot tub. The room was perfect - so clean and comfortable, still retaining old world charm. Delicious dinner and breakfast. Excellent value for money.
